Do you follow me?

Prof. : So this is how you install the new system on your P.C. Do you follow me?
Student : Yeah…sort of. Would you mind explaining the formatting part again?

Prof. : You didn’t get that? That’s the easiest part!

교수 : 자 이렇게 해서 피씨에 새로운 시스템을 설치할 수 있는거죠. 제 말 이해 되나요?
학생 : 예..조금요. 포맷부분을 다시 한번 설명해 주시면 안 될까요?
교수 : 아니 그 부분을 이해 못했다구요? 그게 제일 쉬운 부분인데.

해설)

자신이 설명하는 것을 상대방이 잘 못 알아듣는 것 같으면 ‘Do you follow me?’ 라고 물어봅니다. ‘Do you understand that?, Do you get that?’ 등 도 같은 의미입니다. 우리도 어려운 강의를 듣다보면, ‘아 이 강의는 내가 못 따라가겠어: I can’t follow this lecture’ 라고 하는 경우가 있지요.
